Stoneman Taurista mountain bike tour in the Salzburg region
In Flachau you have the possibility to test yourself on the Stoneman Taurista tour – exclusively in Austria! The round trip has a length of 123 kilometres and is divided into 3 stages. There are also 4,500 metres in altitude difference to overcome. You will be rewarded with a unique 360° panoramic view of the Alps, which includes over 150 mountain peaks.
You start in Flachau over the Grießenkareck and through the Wagrain-Kleinarl bike park. Further highlights are the ascent to Altenmarkt-Zauchensee and to the Rossbrand in Radstadt (1,768 m). Past the Oberhüttensee at 1,860 m and then in the direction of Obertauern (2,110 m) and back to Flachau.

For ambitious cyclists
As already mentioned before, the Stoneman Taurista is quite a challenge. There are some carry and pushing passages to overcome and the difficulty degree ranges from s0 to s2 as well as some s3 passages. We recommend only doing the ‘Gold tour’ if you are a technically skilled and fit mountain biker. When in doubt, try the bronze or silver tour first.
Some more information about the conditions – you can expect: 33% asphalt, 1% cobblestones or rough asphalt, 53% paved paths, 2% unpaved paths (forest and meadows), 9% single trails and 2% roots and rock passages.
